Dressember: What it is and Why I’m Joining

Human trafficking is a $150 billion dollar industry. It’s a $150 BILLION dollar industry.

And while I may not be able to end it, I do believe I can disrupt it. In order to do that, I’m partnering with Dressember and International Justice Mission (IJM from here on out) to raise awareness about human trafficking and raise funds to support IJM’s mission to do just that.

Dressember is an anti-trafficking organization whose mission is simple: to fight for the dignity of all people and end human trafficking and violence against people in poverty in our lifetime.

For the rest of the month, you’ll see me wearing a dress. I am not a dress person, people! So when you see the same 3-5 dresses over and over, please like my posts and comment and carry on. 🙂 What may seem like a silly style challenge has collectively raised over $18MM to fight human trafficking around the world.💪🏼💪🏾💪🏿

When enough people use their voices to advocate for change, things begin to shift.

Dressember is much more than an awareness campaign; we’re a social movement rooted in the belief that all people deserve to be free.

Want to Join the Movement?

There are several ways to join Dressember and use your voice (& style!) to advocate for change.

  1. Join our team– For Freedom 2023, and commit to wearing a dress or tie every day for the month of December. Use the provided resources to educate your circle, or create your own if this is an area you’re already knowledgeable in!
  2. Donate and help me raise money to support prevention programs aimed at supporting vulnerable populations, intervention pathways and survivor empowerment programs.
  3. Share! Copy and paste this blog post, or use any one of my Instagram or Facebook posts to spread awareness about what I’m doing with the For Freedom team, and what Dressember is doing to disrupt human trafficking.

How does Dressember partner with IJM?

Trafficking rarely occurs as a lone injustice; it is an intersectional human rights issue preying on individuals with compounding vulnerabilities like race and gender. With this in mind, we partner with International Justice Mission (IJM) to resource programs that prioritize addressing human trafficking systemically.

With over 25 years of experience and global reach, IJM is an organization that partners with local governments, non-profit organizations, and corporations to combat human trafficking and violence against women and children around the world.

IJM has a proven track record of significantly reducing rates of human trafficking in regions where they have worked, and we rely on IJM’s deep expertise to identify and invest in the most effective programs that will achieve measurable impact.
