An Early Fall Wardrobe: 7 pieces, Endless Outfits

I’ve already seen brands and influences calling for Fall outfits and Fall sweaters, but it’s still very much hot summer temps here in Colorado. To combat the temptation of pulling out clothes that aren’t seasonally appropriate for me yet, I’m calling for a challenge– more specifically, a 7 x 7 Style Challenge.

What is that, you may ask? It’s based off a challenge created by Style Bee’s Lee Vosburg, and the idea is simple:

Choose 7 pieces from your closet and wear them over the course of 7 days.

Just between you and me, the exact 7 pieces I choose actually create 18+ simple, effortless fall outfits. So I have 2.5 weeks of outfits planned out already. The idea behind the challenge is to think creatively about how you can create more versatility amongst pieces you already own in your closet. It’s all about being intentional and becoming more sustainable!

For this Fall Style Challenge, here is what I choose. You can include accessories or not, so for this one I decided *not* to include accessories in my List of 7.

If this is something you’re wanting to try, I’ve rounded up a few of my best tips:

  1. Using mix and match tops and bottoms makes it a lot easier to build lots of different outfits (I remember this when shopping new or adding to my wishlist, too)
  2. Accessories make a huge difference! Here are a few of my favorites
  3. Consider the weather: for example, it ranges from 70-90 degrees F here in August/September, so I balanced out tanks and shorts with longer sleeve and cropped pant options
  4. Find the colors you feel best in and start with those
